Uterine Perforation: It can happen but rarely if appropriate measures are taken. Ie - knowing the position, size, and shape of the uterus before inserting instruments (exam +/- ultrasound). Experienced gyn surgeons rarely perf a uterus and if it does occur, they can recognize it immediately. Midline perfs usually heal well, lateral trauma can damage blood vessels & need repair. So, it's  uncommon but possible.

Cramping/ gas?: If there is pain to the shoulder / upper abdomen this could be associated with gas introduced into the area during the hysteroscopy.  Post operative cramping can also occur.

Hysteroscopy: Hysteroscopy is a procedure utilizing a thin telescope with a light cord and camera attached to visualize the inside of the uterus.   The scope is inserted through the vagina, into the cervix and then entered into the uterine cavity.

Hysteroscopy: This is where the telescope goes into the uterus.  The biggest complication would be a perforation where the scope goes through the wall of the uterus.  It usually will heal itself.  The rest of the bigger complications can include infection, bleeding and damage to the uterus and cervix.  Hope this helps.

Few hours is fine: Simple hysteroscopy for essure placement, iud removal, polyp excision, or simple diagnosis requires very little recovery time if done under local. Most patients feel little discomfort (minor cramps) & can use advil or tylenol (acetaminophen) if needed. If done under general anesthesia, you may need 24 hours to recover from the anesthetic.
