how effective is hyperbaric oxygen treatment in curing lyme disease?

Can be very hepful: High oxygen kills the lyme bacteria. In a 1998 study 85% of subjects showed significant improvement by a decrease or elimination of symptoms while 13% weren't helped. 
While early lyme is readily cured by antibiotics, once lyme is more advanced it is not clear if it can be completely "cured"- patients may become symptom-free but the spirochete may remain in the inactive cyst form. See my comment:.

See details: It is controversial in my opinion because there is not good evidence that it exists. So-called lyme specialists grossly over-diagnose the disease. Virtually every patient I have seen with this diagnosis turns out to have sometime other than lyme disease. All infectious disease specialists can diagnose and treat lyme disease.

Very promising but..: Major autohemotherapy using ozone is a cutting-edge treatment which is more widely used in Europe but a growing # of innovative docs in the US are offering it. I'm not aware of research on it for Lyme but there are studies showing it to be safe and effective for macular degeneration, Hep C, eczema and other conditions and many case reports of success in chronic Lyme. Not sure: Atovaquone is not generally regarded as an antibiotic that has activity against borrelia species, the bacteria which cause lyme disease.

No: These two disease are caused by very different micro-organisms. Both can be treated, but with different medications.

When spirochetes: Killed , they release what is called exotoxins. Those toxins are extremely powerful vasodilators as result people develop low blood pressure , high heart rate and other symptoms systemic manifestations . I have seen the worst jerish hexhimers's reaction with louse born relapsing fever treated with penicillin. People die from such reaction than the disease itself ( i mean relapsing fever ).

Multiple sclerosis: Yes. A person with treated lyme disease can develop multiple sclerosis. Having lyme disease does not protect your from having ms nor it increases the risk of having it either. Bladder dysfunction and pain are seen in many conditions and are  not specific of multiple  sclerosis. The diagnosis of ms may require certain period of observation or perhaps a lumbar puncture. Check with a neurologist.

No: I personally question whether chronic disease even exists. The vast majority of patients i see who think they have that diagnosis actually have something else.

Possible: you need to discusswith your physician  - this  may say you have  been exposed but that enough is not able to make a diagnosis of chronic lyme disese.

Need more info: "chronic" lyme disease is difficult to diagnose because isolation of the organism has not been effected and the serologic tests used can be misinterpreted.  Many doctors feel that these symptoms are the result of some immune process, but the details have been resistant to definitive diagnosis or understanding.  To know what you have you need to see a doctor, preferably id.
