my ears began hurting tonight after going to the dr about post nasal drip. i ready online that putting a few drops of hydrogen peroxide could help. it has only made things 100x worse. i took some tylenol extra strength but am still in severe pain. please

Need to examined: Placing anything into your ear can be a big problem.  Hydrogen Peroxide for pain is not a good idea.  Peroxide is an natural irritant that can make an inflamed ear worse, as in your case.  You need to be examined to be started on the correct treatment.

Not sure: Peroxide has antiseptic properties so some may be using it to treat infection or break up crusting.  It is very drying and irritating to tissue and may delay healing of wounds.

It depends: Diluted hydrogen peroxide is sometimes recommended in patients with chronic nasal and/or sinus infections.  It can be added to saline rinses.  However, hydrogen peroxide can also be an irritant.  In high concentrations, it may be more harmful than helpful.  Make sure you talk to your doctor about the manner in which this should be used and how it should be diluted.

Vestibulitis: It depends where your nose is sore, but if it is around the nostrils, you can get a low grade infection in the nostril entrance which causes redness, pain, splitting of the nasal skin, crusting  and it can be stubborn. It often requires a topical antibiotic and sometimes oral antibiotic.  The hydrogen peroxide may be too irritating and drying.  Should see a doctor.

is it safe to use hydrogen peroxide 3% on a qtip in nose while pregnant? i have always done this occasionally and just recently became really worried about whether it was bad for baby.. i read conflicting things?

: Because of the small volume of hydrogen peroxide contained on a Qtip, there should be no danger to the baby. Avoid nasal washes with hydrogen peroxide or even gargles with hydrogen peroxide.

Yes.: skin infections can occur anytime the skin is broken. using hydrogen peroxide and mupirocin on both the outer skin and inside your nose will treat it from the outside in. If you do not notice an improvement in 2 days, see a dr for oral antibiotics to treat the infection.

i used hydrogen peroxide as a spot treatment on a pimple on my nose with a q tip and as i was doing that some peroxide was running down my nose beside the pimple when i went back to check the whole side of my nose was white. will my color come back?

Yes: Although hydrogen peroxide does cause a chemical reaction and can damage cells. This should be transient and I anticipate your symptoms to resolve.

Stop irritating your: Both your "treatments" are aggravating whatever you have. First stop them and throw them in the trash.Then try a moisturizer cream or vaseline.
