It seems to be quite: Infective, meaning if you kiss or have sex with a carrier, you are likely to become infected/a carrier yourself.  This field is rapidly emerging.  The dangerous hpv's are highly infective, but not all go further to cause cancer. But without safe sex practice, an infected person "gives" to all or most partners not engaging is safe sex. And kissing is a means of transmission.

: No, it is not true that "most studies" have found HPV is transmitted by kissing. The risk probably isn't zero, it is very very low.

Yes, ...: Such a transmission route is possible, but a contact with HPV doesn't mean one should get clinical or even subclinical infection. Most of disease-causing agents are contained or killed by our immune defense mechanism so we're not ill. Nonetheless, exercise sensible common sense to avoid unnecessary contacts and practice low-risk healthy lifestyle so we can live a long happy life.

: Most HPV infections are acquired age 15-30, so probably you were infected decades ago. Reactivation so many years later is very rare. If it happens, you might be able to transmit to your sex partner(s), but probably it will never happen. And many partners around your age themselves already have HPV 16 or 18, in which case they are immune to new infection. This is nothing to be worried about!

Use condoms: You can remove the obvious warts with laser/freeze them or burn them with various chemicals. They can also disappear on their own in time. However, this family of viruses is capable of reappearing anytime and can shed without obvious warts. Condoms can help prevent transmission but is not 100%.It is possible you will never shed virus or have recurrence, but this germ may be with you for life

: Best is to see a urologist for an exam and further testing, as HPV can be subclinical on occasion.

: If your partner has definitive HPV, contact will usually be transmitted if the skin is broken (small "scratches" ).  If lesions do appear, see a urologist for an exam and treatment.
