does tee tree oil help kill scabies?

Not really: The key to treating scabies is total eradication followed by thorough washing of all sheets, towels, blankets, and clothing that may have been exposed during the infestation.  Topical Permethrin and oral Ivermectin are typically the two most effective treatments for treating people with scabies.  Tea tree oil is unlikely to eliminate all of the scabies on your body.

: I have no reason to believe this would ever work. If you plan on suffocating the bug, you may need it in place for days. You kill it with simple prescribed meds that poison their nervous system.

Scabies treatment.: Skipping a treatment or not, you may need more intensive treatment if you truly have scabies.  Did you diagnose yourself?  We tend to use Permethrin.

No evidence: Tea tree oil has been used to treat acne, toe nail fungus, fungal infections on the feet, and dandruff with some effectiveness, but does seem to have some hormonal effects (therefore should not be used by pregnant women).  However, i know of no evidence of tea tree oil treating scabies, body lice, or bo.  I am open to anyone who has additional information.

Unusual choice: Ivermectin stays in your blood for a day.  It's an unusual choice of therapy for scabies infestation and is usually reserved for patients who do not have functional immune system.  Permethrin alone, applied as directed to the whole body and left on overnight before washing, should do the trick with one initial treatment followed by a second treatment 7 days later if needed.  Tea tree oil is ok.

Scabies: Products used to kill scabies mites are called scabicides. Scabicides used to treat human scabies are available only with a doctor’s prescription. No “over-the-counter” (non-prescription) products have been tested and approved to treat human scabies. Vitamin E oil and triple antibiotic ointments are worthless in this illness.

i may have contracted scabies from work, i have been using a shampoo w/tea tree oil in it , showered with it and put tee tree 5% oil in lotion and put all over my body from scalp down..is tea tree oil effective treatment, and how often should i do it?

See PCP or OB: Because you are pregnant, the wisest thing to do at this point is to see your doctor, either PCP or OB for further evaluation and treatment. Certain medication, though may treat your condition, could be harmful during pregnancy. Do not self-medicate any further.
