Stop using it: I am not familiar with the product however if it causes pain you should use another product. Unfortunately most of the over the counter products are not tested or regulated. The ingredients listed on the container may help determine what you are coming in contact with but it may not be accurate

Could be: Castor oil is not going to make your hair grow faster. It is also not likely to be causing zits. Though washing your face with soap 2-3 times a day may help control zits.

Soaks: It's best to soak a piece of cloth with the castor oil, then place it over the area to be treated. The traditional material is flannel. You can also then place a heating pad over the cloth, but place something between them so that the heating pad doesn't come in contact with the castor oil.
