Not a good forum : Most of the doctors in this platform are allopathic doctors so our experience with homeopathic medicine is limited. In my biased view, homeopathic medicine have little if any effect aside from placebo. You may find someone with experience in complementary &amp; alternative medicine who can guide you, but I would rather you talk to a Dermatologist regarding the diagnosis before taking any medicine. Shampoo: There are shampoos that can help: selsun type shampoos are over the counter and not too expensive; they have selenium sulfide in them. Best way to use is to build up some foam and let it sit on your scalp for a few minutes before washing out. Nizoral (ketoconazole) shampoo can be beneficial too. "scalpicin" is another possibility.

Dermatitis: You should see your doctor about it, there are prescription foams you can apply to soothe the scalp.

does diflucan work for seborrheic dermatitis on the skin and scalp and if so, what's the general dose and amount of time used to treat it?

Accepted Answer

: Diflucan is not used for seborrhea. The usual treatment is a topical anti-fungal, like ketoconazole or ciclopirox, sometimes with a topical steroid used sparingly for inflammation, or a steroid alternative like tacrolimus. Selenium containing shampoos can also help, use a few times a week and apply antifungals right after. Occasionally itraconazole is used, but I have never found it necessary.

can cetrimide and ketaconozole shampoo be used alternatively every other day to treat sebbhoeric dermatitis?  is it safe?  wull it damage my scalp?

It's Ok: It is fine to use them both.  I would try to limit how often you wash scalp if you have sebbhorea - there is a fine line between not shampooing enough and doing it too often, both of which can irritate the scalp and cause the condition to flare up. I would suggest if at all possible every other day, so as not to dry out scalp oils too much, especially in the winter months.

after stress and a flu  my skin became very dry, my scalp is dry, less hair. but no rush or dandruff. is it dry seborrhoeic dermatitis? how to treat?

Stress / cortisone: Whenever the body is stressed (whether it's a physical stress like the flu, or it's a psychological stress) cortisol is released. Stress hormones like cortisol can affect the body's hair cycles (in the most noticeable form this is called telogen effluvium).

Unless you can cure stress, there's nothing you can do to prevent it or treat it! Nothing to worry about though.

Doubt food allergy: As an adult, it is doubtful that you have so many food allergies to different foods that cause you eczema flares. You need to see an allergist and get tested, to identify your triggers, you may hae environmental triggers that you do not know of, rather than food allergies.

Need to consult : with your Pcp to make sure it is not ringworm against bacterial infection of the scalp . Both are treated differently . Swollen gland is a normal reaction to fight infection .

Yes: In most cases, dermatitis is treatable, but there are many different reasons for dermatitis, i.e. Infection rash, sunburn, chemical exposure. Dermatitis is a broad term meaning "inflammation of the skin". Depending on the cause will determine the treatment.
