what's the doctor's recommendation to heal my bruised lip quickly?

Natural healing: The good news is that area has fantastic blood supply and so healing will occur rapidly. Inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling) is the body increasing the blood flow to the injury to bring healing factors to the area and also the veins expand to carry bad stuff away. Dressings and ointments are of no value there.  Avoid further trauma to the area and let nature take it's course.

Ice: If your lip is swollen try to ice it, 20 minutes on & then off.  If it is bruised he may have broke a blood vessel.  This may or may not go away.  You sould see your dentist to check.

Head injury : You should rest and avoid anything that causes increased symptoms. With your history of frequent head injury I would recommend you get examined if symptoms persist for more than a few days

Yes: Yes. Can be minimized by staying away from alcohol and blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc) for a week before injection. And ice/pressure immediately after. injection.

Accepted Answer

No cure : Time will heal a bruise. Underlying factors. 1) how long ago was the accident? 2) did you go to the hospital? To keep swelling down, ice packs initially can be applied. Over the counter anti inflammatories or arnica montana. Vitamin k, a and c and bilberry extract can help. See  your dentist to make sure some of the swelling is not coming from your teeth as trauma can devitalize them.

Bruised Lip: If your child's teeth are near the bruise, you child most likely bite his check.  If he does not have teeth maybe his teeth are just below the gums and he gummed it.  Either way as long as there are no more and he is not bleeding anywhere a bruise is not harmful unless more show up.  In that case you need to have him evaluated for a bleeding problem.

Bruise: Bruises take their own time to heal. It is basically a collection of blood in the area where you see it. As it resolves, the colors change. No way to really hasten the recovery. Maybe some make up coverage until it resolves?

my daughter's skin around her lips are blue (looks like a bruise) but i was with her all day and only noticed it now. it isn't painful. but i'm a little worried?

Details matter: It depends on what the "bruising" is like, how old the child is, what sort of activities she does, etc... If there are no signs of trauma in a happy, school-aged child who shows up with purplish dots or splotches under the skin around the outside of her lips, the best guess is she put a cup over her mouth and sucked until the vacuum pulled blood spots into her skin... a common "fun" thing kids do.

we noticed that my daughter has blue and purple marks on her skin below her lips. it's not painful, but it looks like a bruise. she went to bed quite early tonight. not sure if this is something i should he immediately worried about?

No need to worry: If she is otherwise healthy, she might have been hit or bit the inside of her lips, in the morning you can take her to the doctor for assessment and reassurance, unless there are other symptoms or she isn't acting herself, wish you both wellness
