Technically, you can: It is technically possible to TEST for HPV in men, but men are not SCREENED nor currently recommended to be screened for HPV. Women are tested as a part of cervical screening and men obviously don't have a cervix to screen. HPV is seen in cancers primarily of the anus and head and neck in men, but population screening is not indicated for these. HPV would be tested for if a tumor developed though.

Yes: Men can undergo an exam of the genital area with acetic preparation as well as a dna probe for evidence of hpv. Young men can also get an hpv vaccine now.

Generally no test: Some doctors will test men, but it is rare.  There's no need for your partner to be tested, though.  If you hpv you can assume that he does too.  Because men rarely (there are some exceptions) have hpv related cancers we don't worry too much about whether or not they have it.  The hpv vaccine has recently been approved for boys, though, so if he's under 26 he shouls be  able to get vaccinated.

Question unclear: In pre-vaccine era studies of college age women showed antibodies to HPV in as many as 70%.Most of these had no reason to suspect or knowledge of when they acquired the disease. It can sit dormant for decades before a pap smear shows evidence for disease &amp; testing for antibody is done. Men can have their blood tested for antibody which proves prior disease. It is a stealth problem.

No test for men: Currently there is no test for men to detect HPV.  Some doctors may offer anal Pap smears for high risk men (men who have anal sex or is HIV positive).  However, there is no blood test to detect HPV at the moment.  If you are concerned with any symptoms, please see your doctor to be examined.

Antibodies/exam: Your physician may be able to do a test that can identify if you have developed antibodies to the strain of the virus.An ENT may also be able to examine the back of your tongue & throat & identify areas where the germ may have activity. However, once you have it, it can stay forever & not necessarily always be visable.

No test, no need: There are no routinely available tests for HPV of any type in men. But it doesn't matter. For sure you have been anally infected with HPV, probably including high risk types like HPV 16 or 18, since these are among the most common types. Regardless of testing, you need to be on the lookout for cancer related problems, such as anal wart-like growths. Maybe anal paps: controversial, discuss w/ doc.

Not yet: "Never say never," as the saying goes. The HPV tests are only for women's cervixes. If you don't have a cervix, you don't qualify. So, what about researchers investigating HPV infections in other parts of the body, such as anuses or throats? You can look online to see if any such cancer or infectious disease researchers NEAR YOU are looking for subjects to study. Even then, you might not qualify.
