Propping pillows at a 30 degree angle can help as well.

Snoring : If you snore at night and it is effecting your spouses sleep, you can try a fan or some white noise with a radio of sound machine from the sharper image.  Are you well rested when you wake up.  Do you have long pauses when you sleep? What is you epworth sleep scale number?  You can get the questionnaire on line. Sleep study: You may benefit from a sleep study if your nocturnal mouth open breathing is associated with snoring.  I doubt that your symptoms of feeling bloated are a direct consequence of this habit since you don't keep your mouth open all night long. With growth the space often enlarges and the symptoms are relieved. Her temperature should be monitored and a throat infection considered. Nasal saline often is effective in reducing nasal congestion, post nasal drip. Discuss the need for further evaluation.

Nasal obstuction: could have many causes like sinus conditions or allergy which are transient or polyps, or a deviated septum possibly on the right side. Lying on one side causes an increase in blood flow due to gravity so you end up with both sides blocked

See your doctor: You may want to be evaluated by an ent, dentist or oral surgeon to determine why you are a mouth breather.  Do you have any nasal obstruction?  Is your tongue really enlarged? Do you have sleep apnea?
