can you have swollen lymph nodes, without having lymphadenopathy?

: Swollen lymph nodes are just one manifestation of lymphadenopathy. Lymphadenopathy or adenopathy is a disease of the lymph nodes, in which they are abnormal in size or consistency.

my doctor felt anterolateral cervical lymphadenopathy in my neck incidentally and said to come back in a few weeks if its still there. i cant feel it though? is it normal for doctors to feel lymph nodes that patients cant?

: Yes. Examination sometimes requires special skills. It would be prudent to take your doctor's advice. If you get fever, or lose weight, see your doctor sooner.
For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs.

2 or 3 neck lymph nodes smaller than 1 cm (between 3mm and 5mm) are considered lymphadenopathy, or are still within the parameters considered safe?

Could be: Sounds like something we would call "shotty adenopathy" meaning feels like gun shot.  The could be nothing might could also mean something so should be followed and evaluated.  If they disappear, not likely a problem. If they persist, or grow, need to probably be biopsied.

generalized lymphadenopathy over past 3 yrs! lymph nodes don't increase in size & all moveable. some rubbery, some soft. low grade temps-99.6!lymphoma?

Not very: Likely in an 18 yo.  The only lymphoma that is commonly seen in teens is hodgkin's disease.  If things have not changed in 3 years i doubt it is malignant.

what could cause lymphadenopathy for over a year? i've already had a needle biopsy which only showed that my lymph nodes are reactive.

In many cases,: A needle biopsy is not adequate for a diagnosis. There are a fair number of infections as well as other things that can do this.

what is cervical lymphadenopathy? i have scattered subcentimeter lymph nodes throughout my neck should i worry?

Lymph nodes in your: There are many reasons for the neck lymph nodes to get enlarged. Most often the cause is infection or inflammation of your throat. Such nodes are often tender to touch or pressure. You can watch the size of the lymph nodes. if they get any bigger, then an examination by your doctor is advised. A biopsy of the node may be done if there is any suspicion of lymph gland cancer(called a lymphoma).

if none of the lymph nodes enlarge in the body. no generalized lymphadenopathy, is there a chance of hiv?maybe headache. h protective safe sex to add.

Yes: Hiv can be present without any overt signs and symptoms until the profound immune suppression creates opportunistic infections or tumors.  If you think there is any chance that you may have been infected please get tested.  The earlier the diagnosis is made and treatment begun, the better the outcome.

i have been diagnosed with bilateral inguinal lymphadenopathy. but my inguinal lymph nodes do not hurt at all? does this diagnosis sound right?

Need work-up: Bilateral inguinal lymphadenopathies-mean-you have lymph nodes enlargement that are located on both groins area. Now, it is not a diagnosis-it is just a sign/clinical finding. Diagnosis still has to be made. There are different things that can cause above finding- inflammation, autoimmune problem, infection, malignancy etc. Please go to see your md for eval- ie-blood work, imaging, biopsy etc.

Yes,: lymph nodes are normal structures.  If they are normal in shape and size, there is generally nothing to worry about.

These lymph nodes: may not mean anything, unless there is a readily diagnosed condition that will explain their existence, such as acute infection or tumor.  Lymph nodes can pop in and out, without rhyme or reason.  The existence of CHRONICALLY enlarging lymph nodes would be a red flag.  Periodic followup CTs at intervals of 3 or 6 months would be recommended here.
