You may be confused: No one admits someone for an LDL, which is part of a cholesterol panel.

Yes: Those are very good numbers, especially the HDL of 89.

Never too low: These are very low, but very ideal numbers. Why are you worrying?

Generally, yes: At any given level of total and LDL cholesterol, the higher the HDL the lower the cardiac risk and vice-versa. The reason doctors tend to focus on lowering LDL is that there are to date no proven results from raising HDL with drugs, the one exception being niacin, notoriously hard to take in meaningful amounts. Low HDL may be a marker of risk rather than a target for treatment.

Not good!: For some reason, your results are outside the healthy range in each measure. You might find a good nutritionist who could help you find a diet plan - but a good physician is also needed. You are young and it strikes me as good since you have time to reshape your habits, but bad that it is so out of range already. Don't worry, but do take it seriously - as they say - like a heart attack!

High LDL: More information is needed to determine your individual risk for cardiac event such as smoking history, history of diabetes, and hypertension.. Such a profile would help determine the need to treat the high LDL cholesterol with medications..

Not great: Hi. You have good triglycerides and Lp(a). But you have an isolated low HDL (i.e., not associated with hi triglycerides) and a higher than goal LDL. Your non-HDL is actually 126 if your tot. cool. and HDL are correct as stated. Your low HDL is not a treatment target. Do you have a family history of premature atherosclerotic disease? Eat healthily and exercise regularly, and DON'T SMOKE! Good luck!
