Indeterminate: Most likely what you mean is that the Western Blot result is "indeterminate".  That means that the test is neither negative or positive.  This type of test is a 1st generation confirmatory test for HIV.  I would recommend that you repeat the test utilizing a 4th generation test.  This will very likely give you a definitive result.

Possible: Lab tests have false negatives and false positives. Each lab test result needs to be interpreted in the clinical context. A person may have infection with lyme disease and may not make appropriate antibody and have a negative test while the test is working properly.

See an HIV expert: This is a complex situation, can't sort it out on this forum with the info you provide. Most people with indeterminate HIV WB results do not have HIV. But indeterminate due to p24 can be found during serconversion, as you seem to know. WB is not usually done any more -- other confirmatory methods are used. If not in the care of an infectious diseases or HIV/AIDS expert, ask for referral ASAP.

Probably not Lyme: Your Western Blot would need to be above 5 for a conclusive confirmation of Lyme disease. Unless you also had known tick bite, low-grade fever, "erythema migrants", you probably had a viral illness that should resolve on its own. Do discuss this with your primary medical provider or specialist if symptoms persist.

: I can't comment on the very unusual situation of the case you cite, but you definitely can trust the HSV Western blot test. The combination of all negative results (PCR swabs, IgG and WB) shows you do not have genital herpes and that something else is responsible for the "small splits".

HIV: This is HIV negativity. Although there is a very rare case in which antibody formation is delayed as long as 6 mos, the HIV RNA PCR would have become positive by now if you were in fact infected. Hope you were also tested for other STDs. Be careful, it is dangerous out there.

: The blood bank screening tests are set at high sensitivity so that no cases are missed. PCR is more reliable.

The biochemical properties of protein enable its passage through a gel matrix across electric current.  The specific protein is then identified through detection by antibody. Oddly, there is such a thing as Southern and Northern blots (for DNA and RNA, respectively), but no Eastern blot.
