Echocardiogram: The echocardiogram is so sensitive it picks up findings like this in over 80% of normal patients studied. These findings are trivial and of no hemodynamic significance. If you have an otherwise normal heart examination by stethoscope and have no symptoms, don't be concerned. I'm sure your physician agrees that this trivial tricuspid and pulmonic valve leakage is insignificant.

would a echocardiogram report a right bundle branch block? because it was normal, but my electrocardiogram did report a rbbb, false reading?

Right bundle branch: We share similar EKGs and I have no heart poblems.  According to a recent article in the European Heart Jounal the prevalence of RBBB that is normal variant is 4 percent for men and 2 percent for women.  RBBB does develop in people with lung problems, especially with COPD or Pulmonary embolus. It can develop in some people who have other processes that effect conduction.

read reports that i have mitral valve regurgitation. doctors failed to tell me. also have splinter hemorrhages. should i request an echocardiogram?

Interpreting results: It is worthwhile to be evaluated in person;it is easy to take findings out of context&amp;make a wrong conclusion. eg: Do you have subacute bacterial endocarditis (heart valve infection-bad),or instead minimal regurgitation (leakage) through a normal valve (harmless) &amp; recent unnoticed injury to a fingernail? History,physical,&amp;review of data are needed to determine if studies should be done.

Several causes: COPD (lung disease) is the biggest one. Extreme obesity as well as extremely thin people also are difficult to image.

Echo: Without knowing more about you and seeing the actual echo study, a clear answer isn't suggested. You should discuss with your doctor who knows you and presumably had a reason for ordering the echo study. We make these decisions based on the individual patient, not on words on a report.

Normal: This is one indication of normal heart function. Certain kinds of heart failure stop this kind of change in the inferior vena cava (the main vein returning blood from the lower two thirds of your body).

Maybe; yes.: Early stages of diastolic dysfunction (heart stiffening) may be attributable to hypertension (high blood pressure) depeding on your medical history. If so, certain blood pressure medications like enalapril, lisinopril, (the "-prils"), or losartan, valsartan (the "-sartans") at RIGHT DOSE can reverse this condition over time. You are at stage 1 (earliest stage) so you probably don't have symptoms.

hello! recently got an echocardiogram that came back normal. it did have a reading that my rv tissue doppler velocity is 17.2 cm/s. is this normal? if so what does it mean?

: RV tissue velocity means right ventricular tissue velocity. That's the right lower chamber in your heart. That reading measures the strength of your right ventricular heart muscle. The lower limit of normal is 10cm/sec so 17 should be fine. Check with your doctor to discuss the full report so you can understand the value in light of the situation that warranted the echocardiogram.

Echocardiogram: "reasonable to good" is that reader's usage and you'd have to ask that reader to be sure what was meant. In my view 50-55% is reasonable to good.

echocardiogram came back normal. i noticed on report left ventricular posterior wall .7. is this ok? the results were normal. female, 28.

0.7 posterior wall : Entirely normal! (normal is up to 1.1 cm).
