i was stung by a bee - don't know if stinger is still in - my foot is swelling - what should i do?

Treat a bee sting: If you aren't allergic remove the stinger with a metal object (knife) scraping at an angle. The venom sac keeps pumping until removed.  Apply ice to reduce pain/swelling. As a beekeeper i've found rubbing the area with a cut onion for several minutes helps.  Avoid scratching and apply calamine lotion as needed. Take heart in that your next sting will be less painful!

Not likely: Bee stings tend to get worse for 48 hours then begin resolving over subsequent week.  Removal of stinger is good and unlikely that any could be retained.

Arthus Reaction: It is evident that his body didn't like the bee and has had a significant allergic reaction to the bite. This is not uncommon and usually represents the blood vessels leaking fluid out to surround any injected bug vomit to prevent it from getting into the blood. I  like to look at bites if they get that intensity of a reaction and be sure infection is not setting in.Have it checked.

Medical appointment: severe swelling in response to a bee sting is likely an allergic response. Tylenol, (acetaminophen) aspirin or motrin for pain or benadryl for swelling.  Make a paste of 2 parts baking soda &amp; 1 part water &amp; apply.

my boy was stang by a bee sunday afternoon on his foot.  this may be more or less the 6th time in this season.  the foot is still very red and swollen.  sometimes he complains about a headache.  he take a allergex everday.  ?

: His foot needs to be seen. This can be an allergic reaction needing a steriod.

went hiking, when got back i had developed an itch on the ball of my foot. itch same as the itch of a healing bee sting.  can't be a bee sting though (i'm allergic) and there is no stabbing pain (thorn). it's 4 weeks now, still itching badly.

: I could only guess:  a wart that has not come up yet: a cutaneous larva from walking through water...a callus that is loosening up. A tiny sliver in your skin.  Try soaking in Burrows Solution ( sodium triacetate) 10 minutes: 3 times a day: for 7 days.  If not better by then, see a skin doctor, (not skin walker.....skin doctor)

Yes.: The redness and swelling are part of the bodies reaction to the bee sting.  The histamine reaction and swelling of the toe are likely the reason for the pressure on the nerve and numbness you are feeling.  Ice and elevation will help as well as an antihistamine (ie..OTC Benedryl).  Give this a day or two and if it does not begin to resolve follow up with the foot doc.

Prolonged reaction t: Unusual to persist more than 1 week, but should resolve in another week. Consider checking with Dr, but notice that "cellulitis" is an abused diagnosis resulting in an appalling overuse of broad spectrum antibiotics. If you have fever, severe tenderness, pus, spreading redness, you probably will benefit from the right antibiotic. Have you used antihistamine? NSAID?
