Infant constipation: Give your son an extra bottle of water especially if he is bottle-fed. Insert liquid glycerin. Liquid glycerin (babylax) may be gently inserted by dropping it into you son's rectum, which often stimulates a bowel movement.

More fiber: Regular, daily bowel movements are important to maintain a healthy gut. Drink plenty of fluids and consume plenty of fiber.

1st get child eval: Voluntary stool retention is a surprisingly common problem among young children (typically males). Scheduled stooling, use of stool softeners, reward for healthy behavior & dissuading maladaptive behavior often helps. Before assuming however your child is exerting "control", first have him/her medically evaluated for colo-rectal dysfunction, hirschprung's, metabolic disease & re-evaluate diet.

my young kids have had stomach virus w/o vomiting  or excessive bowel movements. 4 yr old is last to get she vomited small amount of yellowish stuff.?

Vomiting: Has your daughter eaten anything previously that could have discolored the throw-up? If not, the yellowish material could be caused by bile. If persistent, have checked by her pediatrician. In the meantime, give pedialyte.

Strep unlikely: This does not sound like strep. It is hard to make the diagnosis without seeing what the bumps look like. There are a lot of different things which could cause bumps on the cheeks and buttocks. I would recommend seeing a doctor, especially since your son has bloody stools. Good luck!

May need the ER: Sudden severe pain means a trip to the ER for most people. The more common causes of lower back pain include:  back muscle strain, back ligament sprain, fractured vertebra, slipped vertebra, herniated disc, spinal stenosis, spinal arthritis, urine infection, kidney infection or stone; tumor in the spine, kidney, or elsewhere;  fibromyalgia, etc...  It's such a long list of possibilities.

Sounds like: hemorrhoidal pain/bleeding...YOU NEED TO HAVE THIS evaluated!!  There is specific treatment and continued bleeding is dangerous..start with your Family Physician or GYN ....

Basics: Bright red blood on/in fecal debris usually originated from near the outlet. Either the anus itself or nearby. This often accompanies hard/bulky or rapidly passed poop. Blood from further inside (colon) is usually darker towards a maroon color due to digestive enzymes. The description suggests an issue at the outlet.

Whitish feces: Whitish bowel movement is suggestive of a lack of bile that is important in digesting food.  Follow up with your child's doctor re the change in stool.
