: The gingival tissue most likely collapsed into the socket after the extraction. Nothing to worry about.

i had a gingivectomy yesterday and my gums are still sore, what can i do to relieve the soreness?

Follow instructions: I am sure your periodontist or general dentist gave you post operative instructions. However, a gingivectomy is a surgical procedure and it is not unusual for the tissue to be sore for a few days post surgery. Fortunately the tissues in the mouth heal very quickly and the soreness should subside soon. However, try to refrain from alcohol, eating hard and spicy foods. Take Ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen).

can alcohol-based mouthwashes cause gum irritation or soreness? if so, what's the best way to relieve the soreness aside from discontinuing the mouthwash?

Dentist: Start with your dentist first for an exam as I suspect there might be some inflammation/ irritation at baseline that gets worse with the use of mouthwash. Once gum conditions are ruled out, a variety of options, including non alcohol based mouth rinses, can be tried.

new crown; back molar 6 wks ago. ate on that side and now gum around the crown is sore. how long does it take a new crown to settle? how can i relieve the soreness?  thank you?

: The inflammation may or may not be due to the crown. Are you trapping food? Has the gingiva been inflamed for six weeks? New restorations don't need time to settle in (except for maybe dentures as soft tissue remodels a bit). If soreness continues for more than a day or two see your dentist for a follow up.

Gum swelling: Most probable cause is infection, tooth and/or gum.  Requires immediate care by a Dentist.  Do not delay.

could chewing cinnamon chewing gum, cause mouth soreness or bumps?

Accepted Answer

Perhaps: You may be allergic to the cinnamon or it may just be irritating to the soft tissues of your mouth.  Where are the bumps, and did they first pop up after chewing the gum?  They are more likely to have been there and you merely became aware of them due to the soreness.  If they do not go away within a couple of days, see your dentist for a definite diagnosis.

could it posterior crossbite or could the rest of my molars, except the last, be leaning  inwards. i have gum, neck and face soreness all the time?

Look elsewhere: See your physician or a chiropractor or both to determine the cause of your neck and face soreness.  Malocclusions alone do not cause those symptoms. Tension, stress, and habits such as bruxism might contribute to those symptoms.  You can also check with your dentist for an evaluation.

Red soreness : There are a dozen reasons for your symptoms and only a dr can diagnose that with his own eyes!  is it possible you burned your mouth with hot pizza,  etc?  You could rinse and gargle with regular 3% hydrogen peroxide until you can get in to see the dr.

Healing socket: The appearance of a healing socket varies greatly. You did not mention how long ago the tooth was extracted, and whether the pain/soreness is getting better, worse or the same?  It doesn't sound like there is anything to be concerned about. However, we can't determine this over the internet, so contact your own dentist for your peace of mind.

i have a canker sore on my gum and it hurts really badly. can canker sore cause jaw soreness?

Jaw: I don't think that the jaw soreness is related to the canker sore.  But, cankers can occur on any type of mucocutaneous tissue.
