housemate has rls, takes mirapex, (pramipexole) but is obstinate, argumentative, stays up all night, refuses to get adequate sleep. how do i get him to get rest?

How to get some rest: I don't think you will be able to get him to get adequate rest on your own with any standard sleep aids such as tylenol (acetaminophen) pm or melatonin or even talking to him about it.  He needs to discuss this problem with his doctor and if that is insufficient, if it is disrupting your household perhaps the 2 of you should seek counseling together on this matter.  Good luck with this problem to both of you!

i suffer from sleep inducement & maintenance issues in night due to which i take 3mg melatonin daily, however i have rls as well & for which i take gabapentin too but i feel melatonin makes my rls worse,i can't get sleep without melatonin, what 2 do?

: Would recommend a second opinion from a neurologist or sleep specialist.  You may do best by switching to a dopamine agonist to handle the RLS.  A sleep hygiene program needs to be instituted, as all sleep inducing medications are not successful longterm solutions due to tolerance.  In summary, you need a total re-evaluation.

is there a natural way to avoid rls? once i sit or lay down... the rls sets in within minutes. this is affecting my sleep severely.

Tonic water cure: One suggestion is to drink a glasses of tonic water before bed time if haven't done so already have your doctor checknyou for anemia.

RLS: Rls can disrupt sleep and if a medicine at low dose works then doesnt matter what time you take it.

No known treatment: There is no known relief for RLS but quinine or quinine water seems to help. There are other home remedies that are said to help like mustard.

Not exactly: Rls is condition that you have when you're awake.  Sleep study will not assess RLS any more than a friend sitting next to you on the couch assesses rls.  What sleep studies can diagnose is something called plmd (periodic limb movement disorder).  This can be a related disorder to RLS but these are twitches or movement that occur in a stereotyped, repetitive behavior during the night while asleep.
