Identify cause first: Yes, surgical lip reduction can help reduce excess tissues but I am not sure what is causing the lip burning or whether that will dissipate following any surgery. See your pcp to diagnose the problem. If you have an inflammatory  condition then that may cause burning sensation and may even cause some swelling and if that is treated then you may not need any surgery.

Food  impaction: Food can easily become lodged in the area where the wisdom tooth was removed. If this is associated with increased ache pain, it may be a dry socket infection developing. See your dentist if these symptoms don&#x27;t get better.

My first question: is are you a lip licker, which commonly creates dryness around the mouth. If yes, it needs to stop or you will never clear the dryness. If not a lip licker, what kind of lip stick are you using. I prefer ones with sunscreen as sun exposure will dry your skin.

Depends...: It all depends on what is causing it. It might be related to dry skin or dermatitis so I would recommend to try a chap stick which you can get over the counter in many pharmacies. If not better with that it might be related to a skin condition that may require other type of treatment so you would need to see your provider in order to have something prescribed.

Sequence: Benzoyl peroxide is the best over-the-counter remedy; i've had success with adding prescribed topical Clindamycin and replacing benzoyl peroxide with a retinoic acid derivative if lots of blackheads. Next step if needed is a systemic antibiotic that's right for the person or the oral contraceptive pill for a woman who can & wants to take it. Dermatologists have the big guns.
