?type of fungus: You may have a common type of skin condition in the inner thigh which may be treatable.  Get an evaluation and check for possible tineal (fungal) infections etc. and then once diagnosed, the proper treatment would be available.  Best wishes.

Slender and Bleach: I recommend staying slender so the thighs do not rub together when a person walks and also using a product to lessen the pigmentation such as m2 skin recovery moisturizer and essential serum.  If your thighs do rub together, liposuction is also an option.

A couple of ideas: The lower legs, around the ankle, are susceptible to skin problems because the skin is so thin and has a less than optimal blood supply. It gets drier and more easily irritated, and the veins may leak fluid and blood cells, causing a darker color--stasis dermatitis. But this would be uncommon at age 23. First you need to moisturize generously and then see a Dermatologist for a precise diagnosis.

NotARiverInAfrica: You may have what's called "acanthosis nigricans." It can be caused by a lot of things, like pre-diabetes or thyroid or pituitary problems, obesity,birth control pills,etc and sometimes it's just there for no apparent reason. There's just as many treatments, but first you've got to make sure you don't have a medical problem. If that issue is cleared then a dermatologist could handle it.

Maybe not: Darkening of skin in the genitals area, extending to the inner thighs, runs in some families. If many of the adults in the family have the same coloring, then it is likely normal for that family. One can see his primary care doctor for an opinion. The doctor may refer to an endocrinologist to see if there is a hormonal imbalance. Once in a while, hormone problems can cause skin darkening there.

Nothing: There's no real treatment for the darkening of the skin that can appear in these areas.  Sometimes if women are overweight or obese, weight loss can help as the skin darkening is due to imbalance of hormones typically associated with pcos.  Otherwise, the only real method would be skin bleaching, but i wouldn't recommend that at all.

Elbows : Darkening of thickened skin of the elbows may respond to a moisturizer containing lactic acid. Lachydrin cream or lotion is a prescription.  See a dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Not natural: You have melasma, which is caused by the sun, hormones ( including the bcp) and other reasons that we do not understand. It is usually treated with bleaching creams and the constant use of a sunblock which has titanium dioxide or zinc oxide in it.

Maybe normal: If you are of afro american descent it is normal to have variations of color on your skin. It would help to wear sunscreen on your face everyday. You could see a dermatologist to discuss the use of a bleaching cream.

Depends: If from sun, will fade over winter (recent sun) . If from trauma will  also fade.  Other wise may need a bleaching cream or laser tx-would see a dermatologist.
