Dietary: One would need to eat smaller & more frequent meals & chew foods very well as the new intestinal connection or internal intestinal pouch will not be able to hold as much food as a normal stomach. Sometimes a person is checked with blood tests for anemia or b vitamin deficiency.

Very controllable: The pain usually relates to the incision.  These types of incisions are usually treated with IV narcotic pain medications. I typically use a patient controlled analgesia (pca) system which means that the patient has a button that controls when doses are given. There are built in safety mechanisms to make sure too much narcotic is not delivered.

Unlikely: After removal of stomach eating more than small amounts causes so called, "dumping syndrome".
It would be prudent to consult a nutritionist as you need to take supplements to ensure proper nutrition.

Accepted Answer

Depends: It depends how long after gastrectomy.  If the swelling happens a few days later, it can be due to infection or bleeding.  If it's just mild swelling, sometime it is just due to bloated intestines. If the gastrectomy was several weeks or months ago, the considerations include ascites (abdominal fluid), a hernia, versus tumor regrowth. Talk with your surgeon to learn more.

Yes , is enough: After total  gastrectomy , B12 is not absorbed by mouth , has to be given by injection , liver will store it for months, you doctor is monitoring  you blood  B12 levels, every 12 wks is fine. If you take every 4 wks excess is eliminated from body with any harm.

Always : Always keep in touch with your primary care physician. It is very good that you have decided to see a medical toxicologist. Without knowledge of your symptoms, it is difficult to make a recommendation, however i would highly recommend seeing a physician at an academic, research based medical center. does lyrica (pregabalin) cause weight gain or it just makes u eat more? cuz i had sleeve gastrectomy and in 2 weeks i lose only 1 kilo, would it be cuz of lyrica (pregabalin)?

Why you are using ?: Is it for convulsions , or neuralgia , or for myalgia., your weight gain is likely not from Lyrica (pregabalin)  if think it is,  look for alternative medication.  . Just by under- going sleeve resection is not enough  loose weight, you have to reduce the caloric intake , regular exercises and work out is needed . Speak to your surgeon.

Possible: If you are not active and are fed more calories than you need, you will gain weight. If you are on steroid, it will do the same.  Also need to know if you have low thyroid function as well since thyroid involvement is very common among people with autoimmune disorders

my girl cousin is over weight but is bearly 18 years old...should she get the sleeve gastrectomy done? what are the complications of that surgery?

NOT Recommended.: 18 yo females are at a very delicate stage in their development.  Surgery is not the best option. 
She should seek the advise of her primary md and begin a healthy eating and exercise program. 
At her age she should be able to loose weight easily, but if not then she might be a candidate for the new indication for metformin. Only her doctor can tell her this.
