Staining: The tooth colored composite fillings used years ago were more porous and therefore picked up stains easier over time. The newer materials can receive a higher polish and maintain their integrity for longer periods of time.

No: A retainer, if worn as directed, prevents tooth movement.  Clear plastic tray retainers are not really adjustable.  Your teeth may have to be realigned, with braces, clear aligners, or retainer-like wire/plastic adjustable appliances. You'd eat plastic: If you ate the smores it'd ruin the taste, you'd eat plastic and then it would be pooped out. Your body doesn't breakdown plastics.
