It depends: Why do you raise this question? You need to give us the background medical history. Do you have enlarged lymph nodes? A biopsy of an enlarged Lymph node is the best way to check for this disease but you need to tell us if you have any symptoms suggestive of a lymphoma???

Very difficult: The basic chemo drugs used to treat hodgkin lymphoma (adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastine, dacarbazine) are old and cheap but the tests and infusion time with nurses and the md visits are expensive. On the other hand these drugs have a very high cure rate even for stage 4 patients. Using anything else would be unconscionable.

Long time hopefully: If you achieved a complete remission and you are cured- providing that you dont have other major medical problem and you dont  develop any significant adverse events from the therapy for the hodgkin's-such as second malignancy- then your life expectancy will be good. Off course your risk for recurrence will depend on your stage and treatment received. Healthy lifestyle/habits and f/u with your md.

Enlarged Nodes/Fever: Hodgkin lymphoma typically presents with an enlarged node in the neck or other common node bearing regions such as Mediastinum (Chest), abdomen and pelvic areas. Most patients develop persistent Fever sooner or later. There is often weight loss and night sweats.

what's the difference between hodgkin's disease lymphoma stage iiia1 and iiia2?

Accepted Answer

It is immaterial: Stage-3 hodgkin disease  is commonly divided just into 2 categories: 3a or 3b. No further division matters for prognosis or treatment, as far as i know. So do not complicate your life any more than it has to be!
