Unrelated: The only current transplant is corneal transplantation.  There is no way to transplant a whole eye or any part of the eye nerves.  If you have optic neuritis, you can benefit from some forms of treatment which are best managed by a neuro-ophthalmologist.

Vision deficit: Optic neuritis is caused by inflammation or disturbance of the main nerve of vision leading from the eye to the brain.  Sometimes it is painful as well when it occurs.  The patient describes visual lowering, sometimes profoundly.  Many spontaneously recover, some need help as in multiple sclerosis, and sometimes permanent change occurs.  See your neuroophthalmolgist for diagnosis and treatment.

Repeat episodes (as in ms) can cause incremental on damage and vision reduction.   Iv or oral steroids are sometimes used to treat on.

Methylprednisolone to enhance and speed recovery and reduce the severity of the injury, and reduce new symptoms.
