Dose and auto-: immunity. Please consult your doctor to make sure that you are on an adequate dose of thyroxine. Hashimoto is an auto-immune disorder and people with Hashimoto are more susceptible to other auto-immune disorders. Ask your doctor to check for other disorders.

daughter age 15. she has had months of complaints of traveling muscle and joint pain. has hashimoto thats been hypo and hyper for 3 years but doc says that isnt related. normal rheumatoid tests. dont know where to turn?

pre clinical hashimoto ( fluctuates between hashitoxicosis) and normal or low so no meds. teen is having really bad muscle and joint complaints. endo feels isnt thyroid . they sent us to rheumatology who did lot tests all normal. can it be thyroid?

Yes: Thyroid hormone levels can change during pregnancy.  You should check to be sure your TSH level is normal.

Perhaps: Possibly more common would be secondary electrolyte changes due to the mechanism of fluid retention involved with the fludrocortisone.  Have these been checked recently.  Also, with POTS, a mast cell activation syndrome could be considered.

Thyroid: I will try to be non-technical.  Hashimotos is a type of thyroid condtition where the thryoid builds up anti-bodies and sort of attacks itself.  Usually it starts out with the thyroid being very overactive.  Tests are usually done to prove or disprove this and tumor.  If this is the case, a thyroid blocker is used to reduce the production of thyroid hormone.  Low thyroid usually follows later.....

Autoimmune: With hashimoto's, the body makes antibodies that attack the thyroid. It tends to run in families and can be triggered by anything that can weaken the immune system such as poor nutrition especially vitamin d deficiency. It is common in celiac disease and gluten has been suggested as a trigger for hashimoto's in some people.Good sleep hygiene and exercise strengthen the immune system.

Not serious: Hi. Hashimoto's is very easily treated, and as long as you take your thyroid hormone and the dose is right, your Hashimoto's will not cause you any problems.
