No: Hypothyroidism  dose not respond to food. If due to iodine deficiency will respond iodine fortification. If due to hashimotors will respond to thyroid hormone meds.

2 thoughts: The 2 diagnoses that come to mind are hemochromotosis and uremia. Ask your doctor to check a serum ferritin for r/o the former. Your high creatinine may be indicative of the latter.

Portable Breath Test: By PBT, I assume you mean Portable Breath Test aka Breathalyzer. General consensus is that we take an hour to clear a unit of alcohol which varies depending upon type (and amount) of drink. i have hypothyroidism, no idea of my labs. i have been put on 125mcg (first time) i am 23 female, 53, i weigh around 70kg. is this normal? normal starting range is 50-100mcg no?

: Yes, you are correct. Initial dose of 125 mcg daily is uncommon unless patient has total thyroidectomy. Take care!

Change Birth Control: If you are also limiting your caloric intake, your next best step is to change birth control. Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is known to cause weight gain, depression, hair loss, & irregular bleeding. Interestingly, the same symptoms you can find with hypothyroidism. Switch birth control (ocps, iud, nexplanon, etc) & get your thyroid levels checked. It just might do the trick. Take care.

Treat hypothyroidism: A TSH result (more sensitive than T3 (liothyronine) or t4) of 46 suggests that you have significant hypothyroidism, or under active thyroid function.  This may cause slower metabolism and weight gain in some people. The most common form of hypothyroidism is chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis or hashimoto's disease.  Treatment with levothyroxine (t4) will replace thyroid levels and help to normalize metabolism.

Weight change: It could be many things, but thyroid dysfunction is a common cause of weight change.  Since you have already been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, this is where I would start first.  Definitely get some labs done (including, of course, thyroid labs).  Perhaps your medication simply needs to be adjusted.  I hope this helps.

Absolutely: Thyroid hormone is very important for the development of the child, both physically and mentally.  If you suspect hypothyroidism in your child, bring him/her to the pediatrician to have a blood draw.  Treat it if hypothyroidism is confirmed.

what can cause treatment-resistant hypothyroid?

Need more informatio: Could be you are not on a large enough dose (most adults need 75-150 mcg/day) or that you are  not taking it consistently (you can double up next day if you miss a dose).  Difficulty absorbing the thyroid hormone in your gut is the least common cause).  Would need to know your dose and thyroid test results before treatment and most recently.
