Safest to avoid: While maca is used for infertility it contains many chemicals and the safety in pregnancy is unknown so it is safest to avoid it when you might be pregnant. Vitex has been shown to be safe according to the German research. Hope this helps.

i'm on 88mg of synthroid, (thyroxine) my tsh is at 3.4.  i was on 100mg but my tsh dropped to below 1. what's a healthy tsh for fertility? can i  take vitex also?

Less : Ideal TSH for fertility is below 2.5! so you are likely better off on 100. Vitex is most likely ok but herbs are difficult to really know whether they work or not.  Perhaps maybe worth a try before seeking further help. Good luck with getting pregnant!

Not take: There's nothing useful for you to 'take' (at least without prescription) at home: healthy diet and moderate exercise is a good start. There's probably no harm in using vitex but there's also no benefit, I'd stay away from it.

: The best way to prepare for a healthy pregnancy is to get your body into a healthy routine. Regular sleep, water intake, proper nutrition and exercise should be the basics. Make sure you see your doctor to address/treat any underlying health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, STD's etc. Start taking a pregnancy multivitamin. And be sure to engage in de-stressing activites.

Enhancing fertility: Take prenatal vits with dha, don't smoke nor do recreational drugs, minimize alcohol and caffeine, be closer to your ideal wt, make an appointment to see a reproductive endocrinologist sooner than later....Find one that will not "fast tract you into doing ivf"...He or she may discover something simple such as your husband should not be on a calcium channel blocker as a blood pressure med.
