OBGYN VISIT: They focus on your pelvic exams to make sure you are ok,  no infections, no tumors or cancers, that you  can have a healthy baby later on when pregnant. Not getting pregnant   needs exams of both husband and wife.

First exam: Typically the first appointment during pregnancy involves your obgyn asking many questions about your history so that he or she can safely care for you. They will often do a full physical exam including pelvic, draw blood, and on occasion an ultrasound

Annual Exam: When you call you can let them know that this is your first ob/gyn visit and you would like to have an annual exam (a once a year gynecological exam that includes a general review of your past medical history, a physical and a pelvic exam including a pap smear test). From there, the receptionist may ask for registration information (age, health insurance, etc).

in march'13 i seen my new obgyn, off pill since oct'12.2of8 cycles been +30days before my visit.she said to wait a yr.can i ask her to help us ttc now ?

May not need to: The general time to conception is 8-15 months in most "normal" couples. The ob/gyn advice is sound in that the "definition" of infertility is inability to conceive after one year of attempting to get pregnant. There is no harm in asking, however.

Second opinion: Never ignore pelvic pain. I suggest a second opinion and I also recommend a transvaginal ultrasound to check your uterus and ovaries.

obgyn found polyp on my cervix yesterday come back in 2 weeks for removal . why did he remove on this visit if it's simple?

Time: The delay may have been due to time constraints. These days, appointments are scheduled allowing only a certain amount of time based on what type of visit, i.e.preventive medicine vs. problem vs. procedure, has been scheduled. There is also the issue of reimbursement which is lower if a visit and procedure are done on the same day ( the wisdom of insurance companies). Hope this helps.

how long to conceive if i have hypothyroid,once it comes to normal level?if not,should i visit obgyn after three months of ttc with normal level.?

Yes: You should be able to attempt conception at any time; ideally when you're euthyroid (normal thyroid functioning) .

for obgyn: do you generaly test for mrsa in a pre natal blood screening that is drawn on the first visit?

Accepted Answer

Generally no: A patient may be tested for MRSA if there is a previous history or current suspicious infection.  It is not a routine prenatal test anytime during the pregnancy  discuss this with your OB clinician.

can a obgyn spot std by looking at your cervix. she didn't give me a swab because it wasn't covered in my visit. she said everything looked normal ?

Not unless infected: STD's affecting the cervix can be suspected occasionally if the cervix is red and inflamed indicating a possible infection. However, in order to conclusively find STD"s (or not) require taking a physical culture swab of the area. Besides, considering your concern, it would be an important "negative" to know, a lack of insurance coverage, notwithstanding. Ethically, we do a higher care standard.

i have a large ovarian cyst , and my medical savings is finished , can i visit a obgyn in a few months time need to safe some money first?

Accepted Answer

Evaluate your risks: Most ovarian cysts are benign but unfortunately some can be malignant, can bleed, can rupture, can cause acute  pain and a surgical emergency upon twisting. If your risks of the above are deemed by a Gyn oncologist to be relatively low, (based on your personal- family history, on the sonographic findings,size, intracystic contents of your “large ovarian cyst”,ca-125 etc) make an informed decision.
