Chronic pain: I recommend the use of nsaids and heat to the afflicted area . (nsaids are aspirin, naproxen, and acetaminophen.) then, contact your surgeon. There is an entity called "chronic pain syndrome." as it sounds, it's chronic discomfort after hernia repair. Not common, but it's there. If pain persists after one year, despite management, the graft and tacks are removed, and rerepaired. Good luck.

While a few places may offer it as a same day procedure it requires being careful with discharge instructions. It is standard to do it using laparoscopy or small incisions. It can have more complications if done with a large open incision - usually longer recovery and pain.

Time: It is hard to say what you are feeling, and you can occasionally get a new hernia at a laparoscopic incision/port site.  With that said, wound healing and remodeling can take months to a year and often some fluid can accumulate under these port sites.  The other thing you could be feeling is a small stitch granuloma (reaction to suture).  With any concerns or questions, you should see your surgeon.
