what medicines can help relieve breast pain while breastfeeding?

To med or not to med: You may not always need to resort to medications when having pain while breast feeding.  If it's deep in the breast pain, massage and warm compresses may help.  If engorgement pain, cool compresses and tight bra. If it's nipple pain, lanolin or coconut milk massaged into the nipples.  If actually need med, acetominophen (tylenol) is the preffered for you and baby.  And make dad do housework!

i am a breastfeeding mum. i noticed in one side of a breast pain like bruise pain. what can be?

Plugged Ducts: You may have  a plugged milk duct problem.   Be sure and alternate your positioning as you breastfeed the baby to be sure that all portions of the breast are being adequately " drained " as the baby feeds.  The "cross cradle" hold does a good job of emptying these outside ducts.  Try a warm compress also several times daily.  Congrats for breastfeeding your baby! Bravo!

what could cause breast pain in a lady of 37 years of age occasionally without a lump and without breastfeeding?

Fibrocystic changes: Although you are not having a menstrual period, you are experiencing fibrocystic changes (especially if this occurs in both breasts).  This is common.  The pain can be aggravated by caffeine intake, hormone intake and stress. Decreasing all of these can help relieve the pain. Make sure you have had a mammogram and the results are negative.  Become familiar with breast changes with breast self exam.

Cancer : Cancer very rarely presents with breast pain.  Please see your doctor or gynecologist and have a complete evaluation.  Yes, if you have had a breast infection you can get another one.  Please be seen and have a complete evaluation which may include a mammogram or an ultrasound.  If you have worse pain, fever, or redness, then you will have to go to the er if your doctor can't see you immediately.

should i be worried about reoccurring breast pain and burning sensation. right breast only.not constant. not breast feeding.

Could be infection: You could have an infection in the duct. Dandelion and raw cabbage leaves topically if you've got an infection are excellent. You did not specify where in the breast so it's hard to advise.

my breasts have engorged again and it really hurts. how do you stop breastfeeding?

Breastfeeding Engorg: First  review what is going on with latch and positioning. Of your baby engorgement can increase if you are doing extra breast expression to relieve the engorgement. Also if baby is "tip" feeding- tip of nipple- breasts get stimulation to letdown milk but not adequate emptying of breast. Then look at frequency of feeds and condition of nipples. With these 3 the breastfeeding will be less painful.

how can i make my breast stop hurting? after i feed my baby, my breasts really hurt. i want to continue with breastfeeding because i know it's best, but what is causing this pain and is there anything i can do about it?

It : It is hard to diagnose obviously, but the most common problem is a poor or incorrect latch.  This usually results in nipple area pain during and after feeding.  Correct latching may have discomfort for a few seconds, but then settles down.  If incorrect, nipple pain can persist during and after feeding.  Nipples can become cracked or bleed, and this can make it worse.  #2-engorgement can also cause breast pain.  If you baby is not cleaning out your breasts or you aren't feeding enough, the breasts can become overfull and cause discomfort.  Increasing feeding frequency or pumping can temporarily alleviate this.    #3-some moms can develop fungal infections on their breasts that need to be treated by a doctor with antifungal medication.  #4-finally, mastitis is an infection of the breast that can result in red, warm, painful breast with fevers/chills, etc.   This must be treated with antibiotics and is an urgent issue to be seen by your doctor.   
 One note, if you exclusively breastfeed, you should talk to your doctor about vitamin d supplementation for yourself and the baby.

my period is a week early and was heavy to begin with, however what concerns me is that is has lasted longer than my other periods and my breasts hurt, is this an early stage of pregnancy?

Probably not, but...: It can be hard to tell if a woman is pregnant because some of the symptoms seen in early pregnancy can also happen in non-pregnant women. A urine pregnancy test gives a reliable result if done correctly. One can test about 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. Urine tests are very accurate.

how long do breasts produce milk for after stopping breastfeeding a baby? i stopped a year and a half ago and a little still comes out when squeezed.

Depends: Usually does not take very long.However, any stimulation to the nipples can prolong milk production even a vigious shower can stimulate them,there could be a hormonal inbalance. Stop all stimulation and if does dry up see you Gyn/Ob.

Not that much to do: Unfortunately, pregnancy can increase the size of the breasts as they engorge with milk production.  Once breast feeding stops, the breasts will return and then look smaller of course when you were used to them being bigger.  You are usually stuck with what god gave you.  Short of that, breast implants are the best option.
