how long should period bleeding last on the birth control pills? when i start my new pack will my period bleeding stop? it's longer than usual help

Accepted Answer

Follow the plan: since OCPs have a distinct regulation mode to get your body to behave as it should.  Some irregular bleeding may occur in the beginning of the OCP in the first few months.  So keep the faith and follow the plan.  If it doesn't work for you because of your irregularity or whatnot, you will know after 3-4 months.  And if you have already waited that long, then visit your GYN or family physician.

breakthrough bleeding for 13 days on new bcp. i am currently on day 1 of taking the inactive pills. will the bleeding stop during taking these or starting a new pack of pills?

Accepted Answer

: The bleeding should stop during the seven day placebo period, if not, see your GYN physician for guidance.  Documented PCOS is usually treated with oral bcp's, but keeping the active pills punctually (taking the active pills within the hour of the prior day's pill) will usually control breakthrough bleeding.

when will break through bleeding stop on new bcp? ive been taking pills on time everyday. day 17 of break through bleeding, day 5 of placebo pills. it doesnt appear like its going to stop as of now?

: See your GYN physician for an exam and additional testing. In some individuals the low dose oral contraceptives have insufficient hormones over 24 hours to sustain the endometrium, leading to breakthrough bleeding. With sexual activity, cervical inflammation can also cause bleeding.  Increased strength of oral bcp's, and/or cautery of cervical inflammation may stop the bleeding.

can i start a new pack of bcp a day early with it still being effective and stop the bleeding?

Accepted Answer

Yes and no: Startiing the pills a day early will not impact their effectiveness. They will still prevent pregnancy. However, your bleeding may not stop a day early just because you started the pills.

i took an active bcp two days into my 4 day placebo break, on thursday, to stop the bleeding, but it didn't and it's still going. why am i still bleeding? i'm on my 4th active pill of the new pack

Accepted Answer

Too fast for body: Often, taking only one active pill in the middle of the placebo we will not be enough to stop the bleeding. Remember that your body has a intrinsic cycle, and the pills essentially bend your body's will. One pill may not have been enough to stop the bleeding, this is not unexpected.

i have nexplanon, & a few extra bcps from before i switched. im going on my honeymoon, and am bleeding. would i experience any big side effects if i took bcps for two days while also having nexplanon, just to stop the bleeding?

Nexplanon?'s: Taking oral bcp combination pills may not stop the bleeding which may occur on Nexplanon, and if the bleeding does stop, it will resume soon after stopping the oral bcp's.  Best is to just wait for the bleeding to stop without adding bcp's.

on norg-ethin estra 0.25-0.035 bcp. 1st pack been experiencing break thru bleeding for 17 days. i started off not taking the pill on time however ive been taking it on time for the last 17 days. currently on day 5 on placebo. when will bleeding stop?

: See your GYN physician for a stronger oral contraceptive. Although punctuality is important with the low dose oral bcp's to prevent breakthrough bleeding, some women metabolize the hormones faster, allowing for withdrawal bleeding even if taken at the same hour each day.

hello. i was taking bcp for pcos. during the period i was having bleeding. then the doctor told me to take dicynone to stop the bleeding. today its my 4th day taking of dicynone, my bleeding is not stopping. what should i do? i need help from gynae?

: The approved treatment for "PCOS" is to take oral bcp's, which prevents changes in the lining of the uterus.  Depending on when you started the oral bcp's, long term PCOS can lead to thickened uterine lining (endometrial) which can lead to increased withdrawal bleeding during the placebo week.  Stop the "dicynone", and when the bleeding stops, start a new oral bcp pack.

Hormonal imbalance: Your hormones have not balanced out yet and you can get some irregular bleeding for a few months.

can i take 2 lo loestrin fe bcp a day to stop bleeding?

Please ask your gyn: Assuming i know nothing else is causing it in my pateints I have had them do that sometimes, for a certain period of time and usually it works, but u need to ask the doc who put u on that pill as that doc may want to do blood work and an ultrasound to make sure nothing else is going on.
