is it normal that gastritis is taking longer to heal? how long should it heal? i have six month no h pylori.

Gastritis: If you have been symptomatic for 6 months and have been tested negative for H. pylori you shold probably be endoscoped. See a GI doctor and get this evaluated further. Best wishes

ive spoken with a doctor about this. im looking for other opinions: i have autoimmune gastritis. i vomited blood 6 weeks ago. a cbc showed no sign of active bleeding. no bloody vomit since. does this mean theres no longer blood down there?

: Not necessarily. CBC does rule out active bleeding. You may have an ulcer that bled 6 weeks ago and could bleed again. It would be prudent to have an upper GI barium study or better upper endoscopy.

recently diagnosed with gastritis, prevacid worked for awhile but is no longer! no ins/doc, any advice...i have zantac 150, would that work? dosage?

Zantac : Try the Zantac that you have at home. Give it a week or two, if not better, then you can try nexium.

YES: however, the antibiotics themselves can sometimes cause gastric upset. Consult prescribing physicisn.

Variable: General info:  Symptoms of gastritis due to an irritant like doxycycline generally improve within days of stopping the irritant. Proton pump inhibitors (eg.omeprazole/Prilosec) help healing much more than treatment with H2 blockers (eg Pepcid). Persistent symptoms need clinic evaluation for possible ulcers, or for H. pylori infection which can delay healing &amp; is treated with a combination of meds.

how long does it take for alcohol induced acute gastritis to recover? clear liquid diet for 7d, still epigastric pain. is it better to advance to full liquid or bland soft diet and tolerate pain/bloating, or to stay on clear liquid diet for longer?

: I wonder if you are taking medication for neutralizing gastric acidity. If you have not taken anything you can take either famotidine (Pepcid AC) or omeprazole (Prilosec OTC) and advance diet to bland soft diet. You can also advance the diet if already taking acid suppression medication but you should consider changing the medication. You should talk to your family or GI doc. Take care!

Gastritis: Gastritis is a temporary state, and means inflammation of the stomach lining. Start with focusing on your diet, eliminate any foods that cause your stomach to hurt. Keep track of how you feel after meals in a diary. Many times using a acid suppressor medication like Nexium or Protonix on a regular schedule will result in cure over the next 4-6 weeks. Pepcid is another good option. Hang in there!!
