i had a blighted ovum, discovered at my first scan at 12 weeks. i decided to allow the miscarriage to happen naturally. i am now on day 10 of bleeding, is it ok to wait longer or do i need the meds or d&c? not sure how long it takes for an infection.

Get examined: A GYN MD can examine you and re perform an ultrasound to determine if the uterus is now empty or not. If not, a D &amp; C may be needed to avoid further bleeding or infection.

i am 5 weeks pregnant and under stress from work. do you think i will miscarry? i had a blighted ovum miscarriage last november 2011 no signs of bleeding or cramps we found out during our first ultrasound... and this is my first time being pregnant since.

It : It sounds like you may need some help managing your stress level throughout your pregnancy. Your doctor was right in regards to women having babies under extremely stressful situations, however that does not mean it was easy for them. They were under circumstances they could not control. At least you have the resources to manage this issue. I suggest you seek therapy from a licensed mental health professional. He/she can help you learn to manage your stress and help you get through this pregnancy as stress free as possible.
Try not to think of the worse and focus on positive outcomes such as a healthy, happy, pregnant mom to be.

Miscarriage: If you are still bleeding 26 days after a miscarriage, you need to be evaluated by your doctor. The miscarriage may not have been complete.

Yes: There is a possibility that you can get pregnant while you are bleeding. Use contraception at least for 1-2 cycles.

Still healing?: Orgasm induces vigorous contraction of Fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and vagina, which may lead to spotting blood from incompletely healing of mucosa from D&amp;C. So, it's still logical to be patient and see as long as the spotting is slowly but surely becoming lighter and lighter. If spotting still lingers beyond 4-5 months after D&amp;C, see your Gyn-doc for reassessment and counseling. Best wish...

had tvs earlier due to 8 days bleeding and saw empty gestational sac. im 7w6d but gs age is only 6w5d. sonographer said to repeat tvs after 1 week to rule in or out blighted ovum. what does that mean?

What will be will be: Let nature do what it does, and not worry until after next week's scan. That is because only a portion of conceptions become successful pregnancies. Nature weeds out genetic mutations and other abnormal embryos, in trying to preserve the human species. It has worked fairly well thus far, bringing us here from even before our caveman days. Be hopeful, but don't worry. Blighted is failed conception.

i had a dilation and curretage on may the 8th due to blighted ovum when does the bleeding stop?

Usually : Mostly the bleeding stops in a few days. If the bleeding is prolonged then have your doc check HCG levels and make sure that they are falling and that the tissue is all removed. Sometimes it takes longer, until the HCG levels are back to zero. Talk to your doc. Good luck.

Sorry : First, sorry for your loss. An ultrasound at 6 weeks may not have been much help. Next time, you will want to get HCG and progesterone levels early to get an indication if everything is OK. It is important for you to understand that you did not do anything to cause this loss. Also, most women who experience a loss will be successful the next time. Just be sure to be seen early.
