BP Rx: Asks if one BP Rx is better than other for 76 Mom. ANS: neither you list is a diuretic and the SHEP study (in elderly) demonstrated that chlorthalidone is all that is needed in most. So have her ask why why she is not on this to start with. She may not need any thing else. Nothing is better in the elderly.

Talk to doctor: Walgreen's may have something there, it would seem ill advised to use two drugs of the same class. (beta blockers). But your physician may have a reason for this strategy. Talk to your physician and see if this is a problem.

Sure you can: They are both blood pressure meds, but work differently. Sometimes patients need 2 , 3 or even 4 meds to get better control. They can be safely taken together. If you have any side effects taking it together, talk to your doctor.

I : I think it is important to understand that supplements and herbal remedies differ from traditional medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, in that, by law, they are not required by the government to have the same rigorous standards of proving that they are safe and effective by the fda.  As long as a product has a disclaimer that it does not claim to treat any illness, the company selling it is basically able to make many claims regarding what the product can do.  These products may well be effective and safe (although i would not spend my money on them unless they had data showing that they are indeed safe and effective), but they may not be.  Also, interactions with medications you take for other conditions may occur, and there is no way of knowing this 100%.  I would advise caution.

Additionally, be aware that there are a great many products out there offering "male enhancement" or "improved sexual performance".  None of these products are regulated by the fda, and none have shown any data proving their safety or efficacy.  Despite this, many of the companies manufacturing these products make a great deal of money.  I think a good rule of thumb is, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Can take together.: The two medicines work by different medications, so there shd be no problem taking them together. Clonidine, in particular, is "centrally acting" &amp; is supposed to stabilize ur BP, not cause low BP. However, that being said, if u take the 2 together &amp; then start feeling bad, take ur BP right away &amp; write it down. If ur BP drops precipitously 2-3 hrs after taking meds consistently, TTYD abt the prob

One is that you are on a metropolol (m) and the other is that you have hypertension and diabetes.Ask your physician (p) to see if you can stop your m and go on another medicine. If you can, the cessation of m may help. If it does not, or you cannot come off it, ask your p about drugs such as tadalafil to see if that helps.

Not a good idea: Taking an herbal medication without knowing the purity and all the possible side effects can make you worse. Sertraline should work well but if not consult with your physician to either change the dose or change the medication.
