YES: This is called serous fluid and normal with wound healing.. I suggest calling your surgeon and consulting him/her about this. You may be asked to come in for a culture of the fluid.

It depends: It is best to check with your operating surgeon.  Activity release is usually managed by your surgeon as only he or she knows the extent of the procedure and whether your recovery is satisfactory.  However, most patients who had uneventful laparotomies do heal sufficiently by 4-6 wks to allow for resumption of most physical activities - including sex.

i had a salpingectomy performed via laparotomy in march. i have a bump on the side where the surgery was performed. doc said that was where he 'tied it/ made a knot' and that the bump would subside. bump has not subsided. should i worry?

No: no. most likely is suture or a small area or scar tissue.  return to your doctor if it persists

Ambulation: Do not become stationary. Exercise, walk, jog, and always warm up and cool down. There should not be any contraindication to driving a month after surgery. I always suggest periodic rest stops to stretch you legs and calf muscles.

Best...: The best procedure is what the doctor feelsost comfortable with. In general, laparoscopic surgery has less pain and recovery, along with less scar tissue inside, this better for the patient, but only if the doctor is experienced and well trained with laparoscopy. Ask if they have passed the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) course offered in the USA, and how experienced they are.

is it common to have daily low grade fever after emergency laparotomy? it's been 8 weeks since surgery. blood test show no current infection.

Fever: Hi, no it is not normal to have fever after any surgery, but be careful about what you are calling fever, the fever definition is a temperature of equal to more than 100.4, if your temp is higher or equal to this number then your doctor should figure out why, any blood collection anywhere? Infection?
