Depends: Usually, a miscarriage that early passes completely on its own without any need for intervention. It may take up to a month to completely evacuate. See a provider if you are concerned.

Variable: Usually the process is complete in a day or so. Sometimes all of the products conception are not expelled and the pregnancy test may remain positive. You may wish to do a home pregnancy test. If you have not had sex since the miscarriage and the tests is positive you may need curettage.

Concerning: Low rise concerning for but not diagnostic of an abnormal pregnancy, including an ectopic pregnancy. Getting the u/s is the right idea.

A week: At 6 weeks gestation it should take  about a week after passing the products of conception for the bleeding, which should be of a tapering off nature, to completely  stop. If that is not the case, a transvaginal ultrasound may help to determine,  if there are retained products that could get infected and cause sepsis, a life threatening condition.

Within a week: It is entirely important that all the placental tissue and products of conception be completely removed from the uterus. If the tissue is not completely removed the beta HCG .Will persist and pregnancy will be a false positive. If the beta HCG serum levels stay high for more than two weeks this could mean a serious problem and you need to visit your doctor.

i had a blighted ovum, discovered at my first scan at 12 weeks. i decided to allow the miscarriage to happen naturally. i am now on day 10 of bleeding, is it ok to wait longer or do i need the meds or d&c? not sure how long it takes for an infection.

Get examined: A GYN MD can examine you and re perform an ultrasound to determine if the uterus is now empty or not. If not, a D &amp; C may be needed to avoid further bleeding or infection.

i had a miscarriage on august 18th (8 weeks pregnant). i resumed sexual activity shortly after the bleeding stopped. i waited a week to take an at home pregnancy test to confirm i was no longer pregnant. todays test is pos. is that possible?

Retained tissue?: An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy that has implanted in the fallopian tube, not in the uterus.  These are usually treated with a medication called Methotrexate or surgery.  There is no retained tissue within the uterus, if that is what you mean.  If treated with methotrexate, HCG levels are followed to zero, and women should not get pregnant for about 4-6 months.

Variable: It can be soon or  may be longer. It matter with many things such as frequency as intercourse or what ones plans are. If you are speaking biologically as soon as your next intercourse theoretically if time correctly. I might suggest to wait however if you are considering this as one needs to sort out the emotional issues.
