Danger: That is a potentially lethal amount, especially if combined with something else, like alcohol. It has a half-life of only a few hours, so he may not be harmed.  But he is lucky.  I hope he finds help pronto, whether he attempted actual suicide or just took a risk.

Sugar: I wouldn't regard this as a sugar detox situation, but would consider the possibility of  symptoms of withdrawal from foods you previously enjoyed. I would not discount depression as a cause of your symptoms .either in view of the change in sleeping pattern and down feelings. A consultation with a psychologist or psychiatrist may be in order.

Try not to focus on: The pure concept of detox, as your kidney's and liver do quite a reasonable job of detoxifying.  Your better focus should be on "cleaning up" your diet, minimizing processed foods, focus on water instead of most other "unnatural" beverages, fill your plate with "naturally" colorful fruits and veggies and things that don't come out of boxes!

Depends on medicine: "Detox" means the removal of poisons, and most medicines ARE NOT poisons. Medications are metabolized at a variable rate, depending on what kind. Most do NOT accumulate in liver or other tissues, and there is no reason for cleanses, purges, excessive water intake etc etc. In fact, some of these can actually be dangerous. You will have to say what kind of meds you are on for a proper answer.

Depends : Suboxone contains both Buprenorphine and naloxone. Both have a relatively long half life so would likely take 1-2 weeks before not detectable on drug screen if that is what you are concerned about. Fortunately detox is much less traumatic than with shorter acting opiates.

The first step is to let your doctor know you want to get off and get his/her help. Next, cut back by a set amount (like 2 mg) and monitor for cravings or withdrawal. After an adequate amount of time has passed, taper down more. Continue until completely off.
