Bell's palsy: Antiviral meds like Acyclovir usually don't help bell's palsy by themselves, but are given in combination with an anti-inflammatory medication like prednisone. Many cases of bell's palsy resolve by themselves in 2-3 months.

Treating herpes: The usual dose of acyclovir for recurrent genital herpes is 400 mg (2 pills) 3 times a day for 5 days. For oral herpes, usually valacyclovir (Valtrex) in a single dose of 2 grams. Neither of these is different in pregnant women. But the safest thing is to ask your obstetrician. If genital, make sure your Ob knows and ask about daily acyclovir or valacyclovir the last month before delivery.

It depends: Genital herpes is caused by a virus.  Usually, even after treatment, it returns.  Sometimes you get new lesions very often and sometimes only once or twice a year.  The good news is that eventually it "burns out" and no longer returns.  The bad news is that it may happen quickly or take a few years of outbreaks until it stops.
