It may not grow back: Depending on the depth of the "nicking off" it could be akin to having the lesion.mole excised, so there is the chance the mole may not grow back.  have it looked at if it does not heal.

how long does it take for a normal mole to form? i have one under my breast that's pretty new and is still small (like 1mm). it looks like it's getting slightly bigger, though. i wasn't sure if mole formation is a longer process or an overnight one?

: Moles may develop at any age, but usually in ages up to the 30's. See your dermatologist for a complete skin exam , esp should you have any questionable lesions that are new and enlarging.

: Yes, certainly,  unless the Melanoma is fully and properly excised,  it will return within weeks.

: MELANOMAS DON'T RUB OFF THEY ARE A CANCEROUS LESION THAT HAS TO BE SURGICALLY REMOVED. A MELANOMA OCCURS IN MALES MORE THAN FEMALES STARTING AROUND THE AGE OF 30.IT IS USUALLY DARK AND WILL GROW OVER THE YEARS.AND CAN BE FLAT OR ELEVATED. USE SUN SCREEN SINCE YOU LIVE ON AN ISLAND WITH LOTS OF SUN.

Hard to say: There are many kinds of pigmented lesions that are called moles. Most are absolutely benign, so i can't give a time frame. There are estimates of how long it takes different types of early melanomas to become invasive, but that's a long answer. The best thing to do is to see your doctor and have a skin check. Tell them about any moles that worry you, so that you can be relieved.

Depends: First, it depends how large the mole is. Next, it depends on how it is removed (shaved from the surface of the skin or punch biopsy or excised).  Was it cauterized or were sutures used?  What part of the body is the mole located? If it is small and shave removed, it could heal in two weeks. If it is large, excised and on the lower leg, it could take as long as 2 months.
