i submitted a urine specimen for trich, chlamydia, and chlamydia 3 days ago and the results are still pending. does this mean its positive? do positive results take longer to complete?

: No but sometimes labs run things in batches so it takes a little longer or perhaps their machine is down.  Just be patient and try not to stress.

was recently given ept (400mg cefixime + 1g azith) to take to a partner for possible gon/chlamydia urethritis. this particular partner has kidney disease. would a single 400mg cefixime dose be appropriate? is renal adjustment just for longer courses?

Partner should se Dr: Your partner should see their Dr before taking any medication. Renal disease can change how certain medications are eliminated from the bloodstream and can cause many medications to stay in circulation longer due to the reduced clearance which can then lead to severe side effects. The other consideration is what other medications is your partner taking.

14 days: Most chlamydia infections do not cause any symptoms.  Pelvic inflammatory disease usually occurs 7-21 days after exposure if it occurs.

i was cleared of chlamydia and gonorrhea last time i had my exam. i wish she would have said the std test would take longer so i would known.

GC / Chlamydia: In my office we perform a nucleic acid assay for gonorrhea and chlamydia...its from the urine.  It takes 48 hours generally.
