Still work: Birth control pills still work for those on thyroid medicines. Irregular periods is a symptom  of thyroid disease but it does not interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills. Hope this helps.

: It is best to consult with your internist, family doctor or endocrinologist for a complete history and physical.  This may or may not need medication at all.

Hyperthyroidism: Although i'm a yank and not as familiar with values in the uk, this looks quite high. Normal is up to about 24.  You must be feeling miserable: hot, irritable, palpitations, nervous, tremor.  Graves disease, a form of hyperthyroidism, is listed as one of your conditions.  You need treatment, starting with medications to control your thyroid.  See your doctor.

Is that so?: The weakness, pallor, wide pulse pressure (high systolic, low diastolic), tachycardia, big heart, shortness of breath, and fatigue of anemia are mimicked by many other processes -- even by finding yourself in a difficult life situation that's beyond your ability to cope. You'll need a full history and physical exam with basic labs including a lupus and perhaps a porphyria screen.

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, if your TSH level is normal, do not worry. T3 upatke is an outdated test.

The TPAb is specific for thyroid peroxidase enzyme. Its occurence is highly related to genetic susceptibilty to Hashimoto's thyroiditis.  The most common condition associated with hypothyroidism, occasionaly hyperthyroidism.  There is also an increased incidence of thyroid nodules, so in  my practise in addition to thyroid function tests, a thyroid US would be done. Glad to discuss further.
