i have an infected nose piercing. can i put triple antobiotic ointment on it and in my nose surrounding the ring?

Yes..but: I would remove the ring and clean out the area well with hydrogen peroxide followed by applying the ointment. If it doesn't appear better overnight I would have it looked at. You don't want a scarred up nose from a raging infection.

See doc.: Whenever a treatment is not working or starting to work after 2-3 days, get checked again and/or call the doc today. You may be on the wrong medication or actually having problems from the meds. Creams can cause local reactions in some people and complicate the picture as it can be hard to tell if an infection is getting worse or the cream is causing increased symptoms not due to infection.

i'm having a hypertrophic scar removed from my nose piercing soon, if i put the ring back in, will the scar tissue build up and make another bubble?

Keloid: You may be more prone to abnormal scarring and i would not recommend repiercing  the area. Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it.

Most say 'remove': I know that the majority of doctors would advice removal and it couldn't be a bad idea. If you can call the doc you saw to clarify, do it. If you think it a wise idea, do it.  Healing will be faster and cleanliness easier. Up to you - best wishes.

Infection: see your Primary care Doc and start taking antibiotics otherwise the infection can spread to your brain resulting in meningitis.

Not likely: that your symptoms are caused entirely from infected piercing.  However, infection on the nose can spread to brain, so get to a doctor for immediate treatment.

Infected Piercing: from what you describe this is a significant infection. You need to be seen right now by a physician, meaning the Emergency Room.  You need the piercing out of your nose and you need to be on antibiotics.  This is very serious.  It could be life threatening if not treated!

That depends on type: Of nose piercing.  A piercing through the septum (cartilage) will likely be significantly more painful then one through nares tissue. But, i would be more focused on things that can occur after it is done. You can have heavy bleeding  w formation of a septal hematoma. Also consider the significant deformity that can result from complications like necrosis of the nasal wall or perichondritis. I &gt;&gt;.

Either : Either would be okay. Biggest problem is secondary infection and abnormal scarring.
