Patients usually develop ulcers in the back of the throat, with a resulting sore throat and fever.
The infection clears up in 7-10 days.

Yes: Studies show that have foot mouth disease and enterovial vesicular pharyngitis is contagious through handshakes kissing sharing beverages hugging etc.  This is usually a benign disease mostly of children  but in some can cause encephalitis Mostly in the first week. Probably: Herpangina is caused by coxsackievirus & is very contagious through saliva & fecal matter (importance of handwashing after toilet use). Also called hand-foot-&-mouth disease due to those areas being affected with the blisters. If fever is present, give fluids to prevent dehydration. Disease is usually self-limiting but see pediatrician if child complains of severe headache or chest pain.
