Yes, better: stay few days more resting, it takes more for the lungs to fully recover from pneumonia, depending on the site and severity, keep taking your asthma controller medicines as usual, and all the prescribed meds, best wishes

100 yr old not sick in over 30 yrs, but tia strokes. no longer able to hold her head up & bedridden. concerned about pneumonia. suggestions?

Call her Dr.: If you are truly concerned about pneumonia, possibly aspiration pneumonia, etc. Than she would need a chest x-ray.  At 100 years old and with a history of tia's/strokes and worsening function, it sounds like she will need some nursing care at the least.  Difficult decisions to make soon, regarding nursing home, skilled nursing facility, etc. May be needed.  Best wishes.

i have had pneumonia for a week now and am on amoxicillin. i no longer feel sick however i still have a rumble in my chest. can i have a few drinks?

No: Drinking is not a good idea for an adult in good health. You are underage, and sick with a serious infection, taking medication and it would bad for you to drink. Do not use alcohol or tobacco even when you are no longer sick.

pneumonia & fever for 8 days, xrays today showed no improvement from orig xray. fever stopped today.  is her body no longer trying to fight infection?

Mgt: The chest radiograph usually lags behind clinical improvement. If the fever is gone and she starts to improve,  follow up can be done at your PCP's office or by virtual appointment.

is it safe for 70 year old female to take the pneumonia vaccine two weeks after the covid-19 booster dose. only thing is another person in same household got into possible stridor allergic reaction from booster. wondering should we wait longer?

: There is not enough information yet to definitively say not to take the vaccine two weeks after COVOD 19. The Pneumovax vaccine should have been given about 65 years old. If you mean Flu vaccine, it is best not to delay. The booster and the other person's reaction may not weigh significantly on what you decide to do since people have different reactions. Symptoms : Symptoms of pneumonia can include  shortness of breath (especially when expending energy) and coughing. The cough could bring up sputum that is mixed with blood or sputum that is brown, green or yellow.  Sweating with clammy skin, fatigue, fever and chills, exhaustion and vomiting can also occur. Since you are still ill after ten days, you should see your doctor. It can be hard to distinguish the flu from pneumonia but your doctor can listen to your lungs, get a good history and possibly take a chest x-ray to help with the assessment. If you only had the flu, would have expected it to have resolved already.

Depends: A lot depends or organism bacteria or mycoplasma or viral. If organism susceptible to antibiotic should start to feel better in 3 days. Some times complications of pneumonia such as empyema and extent of consolidation in lung enter into time of healing. Sometimes there can be progression because of lack of sensitivity of organism to antibiotic. Radiographs often define extent of the problem.

Not too long usually: It's often hard to tell if a pneumonia is viral, but even if bacterial (and treated), patients are usually improving after a week.  If you have a lot of other diseases, especially lung disease,  it may take a little longer.   Coughing may take a few weeks to clear up entirely.

Weeks: Chemcal pneumonia ( or pneumonitis) causes irritation to the cells in the lung..generally not an actual pneumonia like that caused by bacteria.  Aspiration (from out stomachs) is most common.  It can take days to weeks to resolve.  Remember that the cells lining the lung have been damaged and are trying to heal.
