No: Drinking is not a good idea for an adult in good health. You are underage, and sick with a serious infection, taking medication and it would bad for you to drink. Do not use alcohol or tobacco even when you are no longer sick.

on amoxicillin for strep, i know when on birth control it's important to use a backup method but how long after meds is it no longer necessary?

Give it some time.: Medications take some time to completely wash out of your system after you've taken them for a while.  I'd recommend you use barrier protection for one week more after completing your course of Amoxicillin to play it safe.

Bacterial infection: That depends upon whether the diagnosis was correct (you didn&#x27;t provide any details), what the organism causing infection was, whether it is sensitive to amoxicillin, what symptoms are you expecting to change, and so on. Need far more info to respond accurately. If sinusitis you may need saline neti-pot irrigation and decongestant (pseudoephedrine), and if not better a visit to an ENT doctor. Best.

Too much delay: Get it dome already, being on antibiotics longer than needed is not safe or smart. Call your dentist today.

do longer term infections take longer to heal with antibiotics? i have had a stubborn ear infection for 6 weeks. amoxicillin failed. been taking co-amoxiclav for nearly 4 days and i dont feel much better. wait longer or go back to doctor?

Sinus congestion: Sinus congestion may prolong  recovery, and use of nasal saline sprays is suggested. Continue the antibiotic for a full course, but if you have fever or worsening, please follow up with your PCP. Watch for signs of green nasal dc and prolonged cough.

i missed a shot of meth in my left arm&one in my right arm the next day(yesterday)&both my arms are swollen red&hurt(badly) i'm no longer use(my decision) inject site in crease of arm affected area about 10" diameter. how serious? started amoxicillin?

: An MD should examine &amp; advise you. I agree with the use of antibiotics for presumed cellulitis but amoxicillin wouldn't be my first choice. Cellulitis, a serious bacterial skin infection, requires an accurate diagnosis, proper treatment and follow-up care.

had inner&outer ear infection for 2 weeks.taken spray 6 days now,&amoxicillin for last 72hours.ears still painful &blocked &have severe fatigue.should i assume the antibiotics havent worked and go back to doctor? or leave longer?

Reexamination: The blocked ear can be from severe nasal membrane congestion and/ or inflammation and fluid in the ear drum. I assume wax isn't causing the blockage. At this point I recommend consulting an Otolaryngologist in view of the ongoing pain and possible fluid build-up. Continue decongestant nasal spray if nasal passage is blocked.

daughter is 5 y/o and prescribed amoxicillin twice a day x10 days for an ear infection/ strep throat. she missed 2 doses d/t vomiting. ok to resume regimen and get all 20 doses in or does she need a longer course/more abx prescribed bc of the lapse?

Ok to resume: If she is able to take the remainder of the medicine with out missing more i would not be worried. Also important when giving antibiotics to give probiotics( multistrain) during the course and 2 wks after to prevent any difficulty related to wiping out GI bacteria

Yes: All drugs eventually go bad.  All drugs have an expiration date on the bottle.  The drug is not necessarily inactive after this expiration date but has only been tested by the manufacturer to be active for that length of time.
