Depends: Closed reduction of recent nasal fracture within 2 weeks does not cause black eyes. Open reduction of old fracture will lead to black eyes as the nasal bones need to be re-fractured!

Broken nose, tearing: Eye tearing is common after any trauma to the nose as a fall, or surgery. It blocks the drainage of the tears which drain normally through a channel (tear duct) into the nose. Once the swelling subsides, tearing resolves.

Eye Bone fracture?: That could be a sign of an orbital fracture. Do you have any double vision which is sometimes a sign of an orbital fracture? Nasal fractures are commonly associated with eye bone fracture especially the thin bones of the medial orbital wall which opens into the ethmoid sinus( nose).In any event you should be checked by your ophthalmologist who might decide to refer you to an oculoplastic surgeon.

Since : Since he has such persistent symptoms, I am glad that he is going back in to be seen.  He may need a scope procedure to look into the sinus areas and see what the problem is.  I assume he is taking a decongestant as well; if not he should be.  If nothing is seen by scoping him, he may indeed need another ct scan to evaluate his persistent symptoms.

Can take 7-10 days: The length of time for swelling depends on the nature and severity of the trauma. Significant force can result in swelling that takes 10 days or longer to resolve. If the swelling and discomfort remains, a physician should examine the areas to look for possible nasal fractures or orbital fractures...an X-ray would be needed to evaluate these possibilities.

Relax!: We are exposed to radiation every day.  There's a lot in the environment. Some places have more than others too.  X-rays &amp; other imaging studies, are very safe, unless many are needed in your life. It is always wise to ask before any x-ray what the alternatives are. Your risk for cancer is higher with a high protein, or high fat diet, if you drink alcohol regularly, smoke, or don't wear sunscreen!

Depends: Depends on the extent of the injury.  Even though there was only a hairline fracture of the nose, its still a broken bone.  And there might have been injury to the brain in the form of a concussion.  All these things can cause pain after the injury.  If the pain has not subsided within a week I would consult a physician for further evaluation

Concussion: We look for things like confusion, passing out, feeling out of it, not remembering what happened during and after you got injury, abnormal neurological exam. Have a doctor examine you if in doubt.

Dark circles: found on the periorbital area (the skin surrounding the eye) is primarily caused by capillary leakage &amp; permeability, red blood cells leak and stain the skin leaving a darker pigmented appearance. This normally resolved without medical intervention.
