Bcg vaccine: Bcg vaccine is a vaccine for tuberculosis.It is not used in us, but it is used in many countries where there is high prevalence of tb.To prevent childhood tb, TB meningitis and miliary tuberculosis.It should only be used in persons and children who have negative tuberculin test and are continually exposed and can not be separeted from adults who are not adequately treated, or have resistance strain.

Normal no: Usually get small reaction after shot. Some might not. The natural course after BCG is after 6 to 8 weeks swelling appears that grows can exude fluid , ulcerate then scar. Now the scar is the most simple and convenient  way to  see  successof vaccine. Rarely there might not be a scar but if there is no scar after 6 months see ur dr to do a mantoux TB test, if it is negative probably repeat bcg.

BCG VACCINE: The advantage of giving BCG vaccine is to protect you from TB infection. I don't think they are giving it now.  The disadvantage is it gives a false positive response to the  PPD skin test.

Not very good: The BCG vaccine reduces the risk of children developing some of the more severe forms of active tuberculosis.  It does not effectively reduce the chance of becoming infected in the first place (which is what most good vaccines do).  It is also a live vaccine which means it can have more significant side effects than other vaccines and cannot be given to immune compromised individuals.
