Avoid close exposure during that time, make sure the doggie is healthy, etc.  Otherwise, having a dog (preferably an inside dog) can have positive effects on patients mood. Get a healthy diet: There are no specific foods that you should avoid. You should eat a well balanced meal and possibly increase your protein intake if you have surgery to help heal the wounds. Also you should let your medical and radiation oncologist know if you are taking supplements has some of these may interact negatively with your treatments.
