Bad breath: Usually not caused by bumps on tongue, which may be normal major  salivary glands. Moreprobably due to poor oral hygiene, failure to clean between teeth, failureto clean tongue, infected gums, abscessed teeth, infected tonsils, GERD, diabetes, failure to have regular professional cleaning, diet, etc. Please see Dentist for evaluation/treatment.

Smell your wrist: After you lick it with your tongue, is one techniques.   There was a device available for  a while to measure the amount of chemicals from your mouth, but i don't belive there have been many follow up studies on its effectiveness and haven't heard much about it in years.  I think it was called a holorimeter, you should check with tor dentist to make sure the odur is not part of another problem.

Many causes...: Bad breath or halitosis, can have several causes, ; it is sometimes multi-factorial. Accumulation of plaque and tartar in between ;; behind the teeth + presence of cavities are common causes. Also, many people have more accumulation of germs and debris on  top surface of their tongue (to be brushed daily too). Others:presence of "post nasal drainage", acid reflux/ digestive problems ; some foods.

A good dental flossing with running it over the back of the tongue cures most of these. If it does not, look for a problem in the upper aerodigestive system.
