Abrade them: Verruca are viruses that lodge in your skin.  There is no good antiviral that works, so the safest way is to irritate the verruca so your bodies immune system kicks in to fight them.  That's why duct tape works.  Topicals also burn the verruca but you need to continue until the microscopic cells are also killed.

There are other types of treatments, but in my experience, cryosurgery with liquid nitrogen is one of the best treatment. Please, keep in mind that the virus (hpv) which causes warts, is something you can not get rid of. Warts can return in an unpredictable frequency. If large in size, surgery maybe the only option.
